About Vinita
First Indian-American woman to take a company public in the United States.
Born in India, Vinita has been shaped by Western ethics as well as Eastern Hindu culture. Her experience growing up within two cultures has given her a unique perspective on life as well as business, which she credits to be one of the reasons she was so successful as a startup founder.
After earning her M.S. in electrical engineering from UCLA, she spent majority of her career in the health-tech world, founding and later taking public her company, Digital Link Corporation.
Additionally, Vinita holds two U.S. patents: one for a solid-state relay issued in 1984 and another for a square root circuit issued in 1986.
Since her retirement, Vinita has become an avid Bridge player, competing across the globe. Her efforts have earned her three national championship titles. She has picked up her paint brushes again after 35 years, to continue working the creative side of her brain. These new and diverse endeavors have revitalized her and brought many learnings and challenges; something she missed from her time as a CEO and founder.
Vinita currently serves as a Board Member on numerous boards, including the Asia Society of Northern California, TiE, Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute, and Sutter Health.
Vinita is also an accomplished writer, regularly writing articles for her blog as well as publishing a monthly newsletter on LinkedIn. She is currently working on her first book.
